What is your current job / programme of study?

2nd year materials at Swansea University and a student career coach

What A-Levels (or equivalent) did you do?

Mathematics, Physics Chemistry

Why did you chose a career in Materials Science and Engineering (MSE)?

Materials Science , I had no idea what I wanted to do just liked applied sciences. It’s a bit like the Chamber of Secrets

What did you enjoy most about your MSE course?

At Swansea I most enjoy the laboratory sessions and report writing as I get to use my hands and be precise then explain all my mistakes hehe

What is your research about?

I’d like to carry out my dissertation on additvely manufactured steels, titanium-6Vanadiam-4Aluminium, nickel superalloys or Electron Back Scatter Detection. Steels are cool because there’s about 4000 different grades of steel most people only think theres stainless steel?!

What is the coolest thing you have done in your career so far?

The coolest thing I’ve done is present to the innovation board at Bentley Motors about textures and materials characterisation

What do you see yourself doing in the future?

I see myself going into design but I’m not completely sure

What is your favourite material (and why)?

I like hydrogels because they are the easiest material to 3D print, They are often used in medical laboratories

What advice would you give your 16 year old self?

Chill out you’ve chosen the best subject for you
