What is your programme of study?

BEng Materials Science and Engineering at Loughborough University

What A-Levels (or equivalent) did you do?

PE, Biology, Geography

Why did you chose a career in Materials Science and Engineering (MSE)?

I chose MSE as from a young age I’ve enjoyed understanding how everyday objects work. MSE provides the understanding fundamental concepts through learning about physics, chemistry and engineering. Choosing MSE meant joining a field that plays a major role in innovation and has real world application.

What did you enjoy most about your MSE course? (If you didn’t do a MSE course which course did you do and what led to you MSE?)

I enjoy the how broad the MSE course is and how it can be applied to pretty much any industry. Theres always room for innovation!

What do you see yourself doing in the future?

I am yet to fully decide on which future path I would like to take, however as of now I like the idea of working in the biomedical engineering sector – allowing my learning to be applied into healthcare!

What is your favourite material (and why)?

My favourite material is carbon fibre.

What advice would you give your 16 year old self?

I would tell my 16 year old self that you’re in no rush to know what paths you want to take. Find something that interests you and apply yourself as best you can. You don’t know what opportunities will come your way, so keep an open mind.
